A request to gain access must contain sufficient details on the nature of the request and the applicant’s contact information. The City benefits from a 20-day delay from the receipt of the request to study it, determine whether the documents requested are accessible to the public, and respond to the applicant’s request. In the event that it is impossible to respond with the deadline foreseen and following written notification send to the applicant, the City has an additional 10 days to respond.
The consultation of documents is free, subject to costs incurred for the transmission, photocopying or transcription of the documents in question. If the City refuses access to the documents requested, the applicant may file a request for revision with the Commission d’accès à l’information.
